Dear SBC Members and guests,

The Swiss Business Council Abu Dhabi, together with the German Emirati Joint Council for Industry & Commerce (AHK) and the Benelux Business Council (BBC) would like to invite you to a business breakfast on “Risk Management and Direct Taxes in GCC”.

Session 1: Fraud Risk Management
Fraud and financial misconduct are an unpleasant reality in today’s global marketplace. With organizations losing an estimated 5 percent of its annual revenue to fraud, the need for a strong anti-fraud stance and proactive, comprehensive approach to combating fraud is clear.

Why Companies Need to Act Now
There’s a sense of denial within the leadership about the fact that a company is losing significant revenue due to fraud. It’s however ironic to witness their focus on the company’s growth and delivering shareholder value. On the other hand, regulators and prosecutors are holding corporate executives and directors accountable not only for acts of fraud or bribery they themselves may have committed, but also for acts which may have been in their control yet they did not take clear action to prevent the same. As a matter of fact, fraud risk exists in every organization – just in varying degrees.
The speakers will i.a. explain how organizations can integrate anti-fraud initiatives into their risk management programs.

Session 2: Direct Taxes in GCC
The Gulf Co-operation Council (“GCC”) remains an attractive jurisdiction for foreign investment due to the favourable tax regimes which is much less than the global average tax rate and also at the very same time becomes important to understand the tax systems and compliance requirements in the respective country.

This session on Direct taxes in GCC will cover:
– Tax Models
– Applicability
– Important Provisions
– Compliance Requirements
