Swiss Business Council Dubai & Northern Emirates

Dear Members,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the signing of an MOU by your SBC with his Excellency Humaid Mohammad Obaid Yousuf Alqutami (Director General/DHA) in the presence of our Ambassador H. E. Maya Tissafi and Dr. Manal Mohammad Omran (PHC/CEO), Dr. Amal Mohammad Saleh Abdulrahim Al Jaziri, Dr. Nahed Abdul Khaleq Monsef and our Vice President Mr. Mohammed Al Suwaidi. The memorandum describes a mutual cooperation and coordination in the preparation and organization of medical and scientific conferences concerning the elderly. It furthermore outlines the provisions for training and awareness courses on Geriatric training and medicine including the cooperation and agreement for geriatric care and general cooperation in the medical field.

The DHA were interested to cooperate with your SBC mainly due to the success of our MENA GERIATRIC summit at the Mohammed Bin Rashid Academic Medical Centre between the 11-13 December 2015.

Over 150 delegates attended the conference and listened to 29 professors and doctors talk about the correct care for the elderly.

It was an incredible, informative and high quality conference.

This was an event that saw the attendance of over 70% locals and 80% of them were ladies! Such a high attendance by locals is very unusual for any event that is not organized by locals themselves.

The large participation by locals showed their immense interest in this delicate and important subject.

Swiss companies have so much to offer in the medical field and especially geriatrics!

This is a niche that Swiss companies must not ignore!

It is estimated that the number of local people over 70 in the UAE will reach 20% of the population by 2020!

I want to take this opportunity of thanking our coordinator Rahja Daher for her continuous support and perseverance in ensuring the signature of the MOU.

Finally, I sincerely hope that our members in the medical field will profit from this opportunity and will join us in our endeavours to make the second geriatrics conference a much bigger success!

Best regards,
