The Swiss Aerospace Cluster to collaborate with Dubai World Central, world’s biggest airport
On April 17, a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) was signed between Dubai South and the Swiss Aerospace Cluster. Dubai South is the free zone that will host the world’s biggest airport – Dubai World Central-, as well as Expo 2020. Around the airport, a whole Aviation District is currently under development.
With the signing of this MOU, Dubai South is seeking the support of the Swiss Aerospace Cluster in order to enhance its Aviation District by attracting specialist skills and expertise helicopter activities to support the development of a dedicated regional hub for the provision of education, training and maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) and supply chain management services for helicopter operations.
The signing of the MOU is another reflection of the successful collaboration between Switzerland’s official trade and investment promotion organization (S-GE) in the Middle East and the Swiss Aerospace Cluster, which launched the Swiss Aviation and Aerospace Cluster Middle East (SAC-ME) in 2016.
The importance of the MOU is highlighted by the fact that it is the first one of its kind that Dubai South has signed. The intention of building a strong partnership with the Swiss Aerospace Cluster gives its members access to one of the fastest growing Aerospace & Aviation market worldwide. As outlined in the MOU, the first common activities will focus on helicopter services and will eventually be expanded to other parts of the Aerospace & Aviation industry.
While Dubai South continues to impress with its ambitious plans and remarkable progress, the members of the Swiss Aerospace Cluster will have the unique opportunity to take an active part in the success story around the world’s biggest airport – Dubai World Central.
