FLYER 2nd Panel Discussion - From Textbook to Tech-Savvy

In collaboration with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), our SBC Environmental Group would like to cordially invite you for this second panel discussion of the year, under the theme and title “From Textbook to Tech-Savvy: Understanding COVID’s Impact on the Education System”.

The nature of our education systems, the mode of delivery has always changed throughout history and now we are witnessing the next phase towards online learning. The pandemic impact on education sector has echoed cascading changes across the globe.  While many were able to fairly easily switch to online platform, many underprivileged were denied their opportunity to study.

The remote and online learning has disrupted the educational system globally; it has impacted students and teachers, administrators and staff, parents, investors and tech companies and others both positively and negatively. Furthermore, the financing of education has also come under strain as fiscal pressures increase and in turn impact the development of education. As the crisis continues to spread throughout the globe, those on the verge of advancing education in their countries and regions were set back. The path to achieving the UN Sustainable Development Goal #4 – Quality Education seemed to regress.

The pandemic has on the other hand, intensively advanced technological innovation to sustain the provision of education. Textbooks are being replaced with e-books, websites, PowerPoint presentations, and other online platforms. Communication is taking place through video calling applications and email while the whole concept of a physical school seems to have become obsolete in a record time. With these changes, we need to learn how to maintain the quality of education provided and measure the outcomes of shifting to digital learning. We need to assess the sustainability of online learning as we know it will continue to be a part of our lives.

We encourage you to participate in this impactful conversation and represent your entity. The panel discussion would also allow you to gain some very valuable insights and takeaways from a group of esteemed speakers, professionals, and experts.
