Panel Discussion: Achieving Net Zero: Spotlighting Urban Sprawls

Emirates Environmental Group

20 October 2022, 10:00 AM
Hybrid (virtual: Zoom & physical: Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha)

In collaboration with the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG), our SBC Environmental Group would like to cordially invite you on Thursday, 20 October 2022 at 10 am for the fifth panel discussion of the year, under the theme and title “Achieving Net Zero: Spotlighting Urban Sprawl”.

The concept of Net Zero is a very broad concept. The main defining goal of this concept is to aim to achieve near zero carbon emissions because of anthropogenic activities. While numerous entities might be willing to work towards this goal, it is often riddled with issues brought upon by the current model of global progress and expectations. On the ground level, it is often challenged by geopolitical struggles, economic constraints, social mindsets, technological limitations, and negligence. To refine this and deliver the concept, it should be dissected based on sectors and categorized.

The panel discussion will aim to look at the types of buildings, their usage, construction materials, energy consumption, and carbon offsetting capabilities amongst other aspects of sustainability. This discussion will address several of the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals including SDG 11: Sustainable Cities and Communities, SDG 12: Responsible Consumption and Productions, SDG 13: Climate Change & SDG 17: Partnerships for the Goals. Certificate of Participation will be sent after the Panel Discussion.

Venue: Hybrid (virtual: Zoom & physical: Holiday Inn Dubai – Al Barsha)

Time: 10:00AM – 12:30PM GST

Date: Thursday, 20th October 2022
