We are pleased to inform you that the 30th Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Swiss Business Council United Arab Emirates (SBC) will take place on Wednesday, 25th March 2026 and will be followed by a networking reception.

Members with voting rights (Support, Corporate and Professional membership tier representatives) please save the date, your vote is needed to ensure the quorum is reached. Prior registration is mandatory. The invitation will be shared closer to the date. Kindly also note that it is a requirement that membership fees for the current year are settled prior to the AGM.

NOMINATION OPPORTUNITY AS BOARD MEMBER

Any SBC Support, Corporate or Professional Member meeting the requirements, who would like to nominate themselves for a position on the Board of Directors of the Swiss Business Council United Arab Emirates is invited to complete the Nomination Form (click SUBMIT CANDIDACY red button) by the deadline of the 11th of February 2026. Please note that this is a voluntary, non-remunerated position. There will be 4 vacancies out of the maximum 9 positions forming the Board of Directors.

Nomination Eligibility

a. Every nomination shall be supported by at least two members of the SBC that have voting rights (should be from categories; Professional, Corporate or Support member and need to have paid the membership fees of the current year) and are the representative member of their company as listed in the SBC online directory. The two members supporting the nomination shall be from two different member companies.
b. The nominee should be at least C-Level management representing their company. Equivalent management positions includes, amongst others, General Managers and Managing Directors.
c. The board of directors shall consist of at least 50% of businesses licensed in Dubai. While others are invited to nominate themselves, the eligibility will be defined based on the combined board of directors.

Duties of the Board Member

a. Board members serve a two-year term, renewable subject to the Articles of Association and By-laws.
b. Board members are required to attend at least 70% of monthly board meetings. Failure to attend two consecutive meetings without prior approval or a valid excuse will result in a review of their position.
c. Board members are expected to actively participate in Swiss Business Council events and represent the Council at a maximum number of engagements.
d. Board members act as ambassadors of the Council, advocating for its mission and supporting its activities. They engage with members and all other stakeholders to foster meaningful relationships and create a resilient network that supports Swiss business interests in the region.
e. Board members are responsible for recruiting new members to strengthen and grow the Council’s membership base.
f. Board members must fulfill all duties outlined in the Council’s Articles of Association and By-laws.
g. Board members contribute to the development, adoption, and oversight of the Council’s strategic, operational, and financial plans, ensuring their effective implementation and alignment with member needs.
h. Board members dedicate time and effort to achieving key performance indicators (KPIs) set by the Chairman and agreed upon by the Board of Directors.

Elections and re-elections will be held at the AGM.
