About the Panel:
In a world striving towards net zero, carbon markets and offset mechanisms have become central to global climate strategies. Yet, questions remain about their credibility, transparency, and true impact. This discussion aims to unpack these complexities, exploring the balance between ambition and accountability in carbon management.

The session will convene experts from government, finance, industry, and academia to examine:
• The role of carbon markets in achieving the UAE’s Net Zero 2050 Strategy
• The credibility and transparency of carbon credits and offsetting mechanisms
• The potential and limitations of carbon capture, utilisation, and storage (CCUS) technologies
• Policy, governance, and market mechanisms that enhance climate integrity
• Cross-sector collaboration for scaling impactful low-carbon solutions

This dialogue will also highlight how the discussion aligns with key UN Sustainable Development Goals, including Affordable and Clean Energy (Goal:07), Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure (Goal:09), Responsible Consumption and Production (Goal:12), Climate Action (Goal:13), and Partnerships for the Goals (Goal:17).
